billLocation: Located 10 minutes east of Lacombe, in Central Alberta.

Description of Operation: We are a fruit and vegetable u-pick operation focused on farm-direct marketing of produce as well as an active grower member of ARRGO (Alberta Rhodiola Rosea Growers Organization).  2009 was our first season open to the public.  In 2010 we will increase our Farmer’s Market exposure and continue to establish ourselves as a tourist destination. A produce box program, garden plot rentals, and community supported agriculture are additional projects we are working to develop.

Lenght of apprenticeship: four to six months.

Number of apprentices sought: one.

Areas of potential apprentice specialization: Apprentices will have the unique opportunity to experience the growth curve of our new ‘ag’-ventures and farm-direct business developments.

General work expectations: Length of day and work schedule are very much weather and seasonally related. The level of work is also negotiable and balanced.

Minimum work expectations: Ability to do manual labor and have an enthusiastic attitude for agriculture.

Lodging: Please check with farmer, limited lodging is available on farm but may also be found in the nearby city of Lacombe (10 minutes away).

Stipend: Negotiable. Food and lodging available plus stipend depending on desired outcome.
