Location: Armena, 15 minutes North of Camrose

Description of operation:
Sunworks Farm is a Certified Organic Poultry and Cattle farm that direct markets all of its meats at two year round Farmers Markets and into a few food service outlets. The farm is certified as humane
and raises their poultry in movable shelters in the summer. Calving is done late spring and through the summer.  The feed is made on the farm in their own CFIA approved feed mill. This is a progressive farm that uses rotational grazing for its birds and cattle, farms holistically and in a sustainable manner.

Length of apprenticeship: 4 to 5 months in summer

Direct marketing; organic poultry production; organic feed production; summer calving; rotational grazing

General work expectations:
6 days /week – approximately 8 to 9 hours per day – feeding and tending to poultry and livestock
indoors and outdoors, operating feed mill, marketing at farmers markets, cleaning barns and moving shelters

Minimum expectations: 18 years or older, driver’s license, non smoker, physically fit, can work with others

Lodging: Lodging on farm (holiday trailer) for summer months
